Tommy Salad

Tommy Salad

My sister introduced me to this salad from a local restaurant. She carefully dissected the ingredients and came up with a close replica. It is my most favorite salad.

1/2 head of iceberg lettuce (chopped into 3/4 inch squares)
Fresh dill chopped (use only the fresh stuff)
3 pieces of chopped celery
Red onion (I add one complete slice (paper thin) chopped)
2 tomatoes chopped
1 cucumber chopped
Feta cheese crumbled (to your liking)
1 Handful of Kalamata Olives
Salt and Pepper lightly

Toss before serving with Yia Yia's Greek Dressing (this is an incredibly yummy Greek dressing or your favorite Greek Dressing; Hot Rod Bob's is excellent too)

Kifli

Kifli

7 c. flour
7 egg yolks
1/4 c. warm water (to dissolve yeast)
2 cakes (or pkgs. Dry) yeast
1 T. sugar
1 1/2 c. butter
1 1/2 c. Crisco
1/2 pint plus 3 T. sour cream

Dissolve yeast in sugar and warm water. Combine rest of ingredients to make soft dough. Make about 20 (or more) balls and let sit in refrigerator for one hour. Roll out on sugared surface the size of a small pizza and cut into 8 pieces. Fill with nut, apricot or other favorite filling (Solo fillings do nicely). Roll up widest end first (like a crescent roll). Bake 350° until lightly browned 15 to 20 minutes usually.
